Our student driven team strives to create a community to reduce inequalities. In order to achieve the reduction of inequality, our group has the intention to create a club between multiple schools in the DMV that works toward creating this ideal equal environment. Thus, we plan to create a more student-led initiative in which students can directly engage in the process of diversifying our environment. We believe that starting diversity discussions in lower school will increase the inclusiveness if kids later in life. Our team wants to educate students in elementary school on topics of diversity and identity to continuously enforce acceptance and allow students to embrace themselves, especially in terms of sexuality and gender identity. We have begun and plan to continue discussion with other school leaders to create different diversity clubs around the DMV that come together once every month to talk about how to increase diversity in school.
